Hi, I’m Maggie. Nice to meet you!

I’m a thirty-something woman living in Austin, TX, with my husband, Dylan, and our dogs, Humphrey and Louise. I love reading, dressing up, a good Old Fashioned, craft supplies, tiny things, and sitting in coffee shops for three hours.

I have strong opinions about everything and, honestly, it’s exhausting. In Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen wrote, “I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature,” which is exactly how I feel, but with every emotion. What’s it like to be laidback, indifferent, about literally anything? How’s it feel to be nonchalant? I have no idea.

What’s this newsletter all about?

I’ve had a blog of some kind since junior high. I’ve always loved writing, but found myself doing less and less of it after college—partially because I wasn’t constantly on my laptop “working on essays for class,” but also because blogging was falling out of fashion. Since fewer people were writing blogs, fewer people were reading them. And as much as I would like to be able to do something like this just for me, the truth is that it’s more fun to put your writing out there when people are actually reading it. (I need attention! Validate me, please!)

As more and more friends (also known as “cool people I follow on Instagram”) started newsletters, I became more and more intrigued. Everybody’s got one, and everybody’s reading. It’s exciting! It’s fun! So I decided I would join in too because why the hell not? Let’s recapture the magic of Blogger in 2008!

That’s all to say, you’ll find a little bit of everything here—stories from my life, random lists, travel diaries, a lot of book recommendations, etc. Are you supposed to treat a newsletter like a blog? Probably not. Am I going to anyway? Yes.
